Trouble with PoE with linecard WS-X4648-RJ45V+E
There was issue with linecard WS-X4648-RJ45V+E in the 4510 chassis. Without any records in the logs new PoE devices that were attached to the switch on linecard didn`t work (switch did not provide power for them). Furthermore, we turned off\on old device (that still working on this moment) and it did not work too.
From google search information, a lot of people saw this problem with same linecard sometimes. I think the reason of this issue – same wrong hidden power counter on this linecard. The only way to resolve problem – restart linecard (no hw-module module N power, hw-module module N power).
F5 3600 BIG-IP LTM redundancy
I recently tested this balancers (two – cause redundancy). I liked these devices, especially for iRules functionality. But I strongly disappointed about his realisation of redundancy (Active-Standby). If we want to determine what device from redundancy couple should be active, after reboot this “active” device redundancy scheme don’t work correctly.
From tests with traffic dump that we can see:
New Cisco vulnerabilities
A lot of new Cisco vulnerabilities has published recently. Among them few vulnerabilities about IPv6 DDOS.
See this – http://www.cisco.com/web/about/security/intelligence/Cisco_ERP_sep11.html
BladeOS
I never see before this OS, it is simple OS for HP blade switches. I used only old version, 5.1
There is 6.3 now. It`s interesting mix from Extreme OS (spanning-tree group, some familiar forms in the
command menu) and JunOS (check and aplly config, yes!).
Also, it have useful web-interface (oh,miracle!)
It is so simple for some difficult tasks, but for his tasks (only blade switch) it is good.
Simple IP SLA jitter test
There is simple way to test your channel on jitter with ip sla in Cisco IOS.
This test is ideal for testing Internet-connection in the back-office or something like that.
If you need check jitter in the voice channel or some tcp-ip server-client connections,
you need more complicated decision.
Cisco has began black PR-war against Juniper
Actually, Juniper takes an increasing share of the market and Cisco has no way except start to black-PR company against Juniper.
There is url from cisco.com
“When you overpromised and Under Deliver, you’ve “junipered”!
http://www.overpromisesunderdelivers.net/
Sad, that Cisco did it. But service – it is one of the strongest side of Cisco now. So maybe it has sense.
UPDATE: Today, September 15, you can not see url to this site from Cisco, but cisco label exists on this site.
